In case you have not heard, Kate Middleton and Prince William will be married on April 29, 2011. Even if you really don't care about a wedding taking place in England...what happens there will set trends for weddings in the United States in 2011 and beyond.
Here are some predictions:
Kate Middleton’s wedding dress is likely to spark the biggest trends of 2011 when it comes to bridal attire. When Princess Diana emerged in a Victorian inspired extravaganza of silk and lace, it sparked a decade of similar wedding dresses.
Look for dazzling acrylic diamonds, mirror bases on tables and crystal garlands dripping from high reception table centrepieces. Wedding invitations will feature embossed monograms and gold or platinum foiled personally-created motifs.
Other aspects of the Royal wedding which could influence wedding trends include the flowers, the bride’s bouquet, the bridesmaids and bridal accessories such as headdresses and jewelry. Many are predicting regal inspired tiara’s and jewelry sets to appear as hot trends and luxurious floral arrangements inspired by the same flowers used for the Royal wedding.
Wedding photography trends may return to the traditional, formal portraits of yesteryear as couple’s seek to imitate the official Royal wedding pictures which will be published around the world.
The honeymoon and wherever the happy couple chooses to visit will make waves for 2011 and beyond.
Lately, one of the biggest trends has been toward luxurious weddings for small budgets, particularly as the economy hit many couple's budgets. Prince William and Kate Middleton have said they are aware of the economic situation and want to scale down their wedding day as a reflection of this. However, I'm thinking many things will still be out of reach of many couples planning a budget weding.
Affording a large cathedral wedding and a custom designer dress may still be a world away from the average wedding day in Rogers or St. Cloud, but April 29th is likely to provide inspiration for many weddings to come.
