How to Find a Flattering Wedding Dress for Your Figure
December 16, 2013

The key to finding the perfect wedding dress is finding a gown that is made for your body shape- one that plays up your best assets and flatters every curve! Finding the right one can take time, and so can fittings & alterations, so we suggest beginning the search 8 months before your wedding date. Most brides fall into one of four body types: hourglass, pear, inverted-triangle, or rectangle. Find which body type describes you, then discover what type of dress we recommend!

Hourglass

Description: A defined waist with proportioned bust and hips.
We Recommend: Mermaid, sheath, and ball gowns.

Nearly any cut looks fabulous on an hourglass figure! Play up your curves with a mermaid gown, or try a ball gown to show off your well-defined waist.

Pear

Description: Curves with fuller hips and thighs.
We Recommend: A-line, empire, and ball gowns.

These types of dresses have a natural waist and give an incredible fit in the upper torso area while hiding anything from the waist down!

Inverted-Triangle

Description: Broader shoulders than hips.
We Recommend: Mermaid, ball, and short gowns.

Fuller skirts balance your broad shoulders, creating a symmetrical silhouette and allowing for more attention to be drawn to the waistline.

Rectangle

Description: Shoulder, waist, and hips are pretty much in line.
We Recommend: Sheath, empire, and A-line gowns.

The dresses above will add shape, curves and provide a sultry silhouette!
