Flowers For Every Wedding Season
June 20, 2014

No doubt you’re aware that there’s a lot that goes into decorating for your dream wedding. One aspect of this process is choosing the perfect florals. As the seasons change, you might want to think about what kinds of flowers are most appropriate and available during your wedding season.

One of the bonuses to selecting in-season flowers - it’s likely to be far more affordable. While nearly every flower is in season somewhere, the cost to bring those blooms here for your Minnesota wedding might be a little more than you’re willing to spend.

So, on that note, here are some snapshot lists of some popular, lovely flowers, and when they bloom!

SPRING: Spring is, of course, the time when many of us think about blooming flowers - and the season is loaded to the gills with available options. Some highly popular selections for springtime weddings include: Aster, Camellia, Daffodil, Forsythia, Gerbera Daisy, Hyacinth, Iris, Lilacs and Lillies.

SUMMER: This is a season of so many options. In fact, as you might expect, summertime offers too many options to list out. If you’re a summer bride, the sky’s really the limit on blooms to compliment your big day. Summer is, of course, the most prolific growing season for many flowers, so the pool of “applicants” is quite expansive.

AUTUMN: This is the time when things are winding down, but if you’re an autumn bride, you have some lovely options to compliment this transitional season. Some varieties to consider include Dahlias, mums, scabiosas, marigolds, zinnias, chocolate cosmos and asters.

WINTER: Winter is not a particularly flowery time, but if your nuptials are set for the coldest of the seasons, you have some beautiful options. Some seasonal blooms include anemones, amaryllis, hellebores, tulips, nerines, gladioluses and stars of Bethlehem.

Of course, each month of the year has its own particular collection of blooms, and you can review those options month by month.

Lastly, never feel like you need to do anything all by yourself; we here at the CMWA have many, many talented vendors that can help you with all of your decor and rental needs; they’re waiting for your calls!

Happy planning!
