As a Bride, it’s not unusual to have spent a large amount of time planning for your Wedding Day and even daydreaming about it for months or even years before the official proposal. In order to enjoy every moment of your special day, you’re going to want to look and feel your best. In addition to your dress, your wedding day hair and makeup will play a large role in your wedding day look. Luckily, we have two Central Minnesota Salons & Spas that specialize in large groups and wedding parties. Learn more about our professional experienced members: Daylily Spa Salon and Mantra Salon & Spa.
Early on in your wedding planning, research and visit with potential stylists. You can start by asking your regular stylist is s/he has experience with wedding day looks. Otherwise, reaching out to recently married Brides for recommendations is another great place to start.
If you are interested in proper skin care, beginning a new skin care regime or experimenting with facials is something that should be done months in advance. Owner and Stylist at Daylily Spa Salon Steph, along with Stylist Courtney have a few tips to share with Brides who are beginning to plan for their wedding day look, “As you are deciding on looks and preparing for the big day, come in and try out hair, makeup colors, and skin care products. If you're thinking of getting your skin looking its best, come in throughout the year or even a month before instead of the week of to do facials so you know that you're not going to have any kind of reaction you might not be able to clear up before the big day and instead treat yourself to a massage the beginning of the week to try and relax.”
A great place to start getting ideas for the look you hope to achieve is Pinterest. “Having both likes and dislikes of looks is great when trying to explain to a stylist what you're thinking rather than just one picture to replicate,” suggest Steph and Courtney with Daylily Spa Salon. “Braids are very in right now and messy loose "Romantic" styles. We still see a lot of half up half down looks for brides as well,” Steph and Courtney explain as they share trends they are currently seeing for wedding day hair. Current makeup trends include, "Very natural looks. Smokey eyes still but still but with brown/neutral colors," Steph and Courtney continue.
A unique trend that Daylily Spa Salon just began offering is eyelash extensions which are very popular for Brides. Check out this before and after example:

A huge thank you to Steph, owner and stylist at Daylily Spa Salon, along with Courtney, stylist at Daylily Spa Salon, for sharing their time, expertise, and experiences with us for this blog post. Steph and Courtney share what they love most about working in the wedding industry, “As a stylist, I think there is a challenge in doing bridal hair and makeup. I think it is so fun to connect with the bride and get to know them and help carry out their Wedding Day dream! It is really rewarding to be a part of their day and make them feel good after all the planning that goes into it!”
