Wedding 101

Party Time

The right DJ can turn your reception into a party.

Your reception accounts for at least half of your wedding day experience, so creating the perfect atmosphere for you and your guests is vital to the success of your reception. With myriad DJs available, each with distinctive experiences, prices and specialties, the decision can seem overwhelming. However, when choosing your DJ, it is important that they don’t just hold your reception, but that they throw you a PARTY!

P: Professional

When searching the seemingly endless list of local DJs, it is important to find one that is professional on every level. This means: Is your DJ polite and respectful on the phone? Does he/she have a professional Web site? Do they have professional equipment? Are they professional when handling your needs? Remember, this is your special day and you do not have to settle!

A: Accommodating

Your DJ should be accommodating to you and your requests. They should be able to answer questions and make suggestions that allow for a successful evening. With a wealth of experience, your DJ should be able to use their knowledge to generate a reception that is yours. Your style, your way!

R: Resourceful

Being resourceful is an extremely important attribute for your DJ to have. This means finding a DJ who has the ability to find clever ways to overcome difficult situations. Though you may not experience any problems at your reception, having a DJ who can improvise is still a necessity. A resourceful DJ will understand music (songs, styles, etc.) and how to relate that to the genre of people present. When your DJ is resourceful, the success of your reception is guaranteed.

T: Tactful

A tactful DJ will have people skills. Since this special day will be celebrated by a vast array of people (with different backgrounds, personalities, from different generations), it is important that you have a DJ who is able to unify the group. When a DJ is tactful, the reception is made special to every guest.

Y: Yours

Your DJ should be flexible and offer suggestions in the overall design, but also sensitive to any needs or desires you may have. A reception that is created with your best interests and requests in mind will quickly become a magical and memory-filled celebration!
